Herb: What can we do with energy and economic development? Is this the right approach for a complimentary NER event?
Sharry Floyd - probably Wednesday night 7PM - local topic that ties in and is relevant - would be a good time slot...what are the specific issues that need to be looked at having to do with energy and economic development? Over a multi year span and possibly funded by the Cleveland Foundation or Fund for Our Economic Future. There are profound opportunties here to change thinking. Good intersections: maybe good economic opportunities could be better addressed by smaller entrepreneurs...Jacky (?) would be happy to speak.

Dick Medvick:
Review of the Energy Matrix
Attach:SourcesofEnergy2.doc

The Medvick Framework helps us to structure the debate and keep track of the discussion to craft an approach to an energy regional knowledge asset. This is a cognitive framework that will help us to move the discussion forward.
Sharry Floyd: attach bibliographies/legitimate studies to each cell.
Phil Lane: this will facilitate sustainable economic development. Alvin Toffler sites sensor technology for hydrogen as the next area for advance. Ohio has been designated as a non attainment area.
Ed Morrison: let's not have a debate prompted by a crisis with nothing happening out of the effort. We are going to have to have people shaping the debate, and framing the public policy debate. Otherwise there is no debate that will be - we need a place to provide the civic space to continue the dialogue. Smart people from academia, industry and policy - this is going to require all people participating on a long term basis. There is no one solution - there is no one thing - the regions that figure out there needs to be an ongoing dialogue will be sustainable.
Amy Hanauer:
Herb Crowther: we need to identify the opportunities and take control of the problems.
Watch Words: What can we do here and now? We can start by leveraging the local programs (Case Energy 6-2-05). NER needs to identify what we can do now through initiatives and projects.
DMedvick?: Pittsburgh went from manufacturing to high tech.
SFloyd?: How do we get this into the national debate?
EMorrison?: if we can model how do we engage the energy debate? The discussion gets hyjacked by special interests...
