CGI Photography...Photographic Quality Images from CAD Files
Producing photographic quality images without actual products can be a money-saving and time-saving blessing for many companies. See how a local commercial photography studio is developing new technologies that combine the talent of a professional photographer, hi-end animation and film software, and CAD engineering programs to produce photographic quality images for marketing materials and new product development for local and national companies.
TRG Studios is a Cleveland based photography and film studio. They began offering a new service in 2004 that is called CGI Photography. They received editorial on this service in SEMA News, an industry trade publication targeted to the automotive aftermarket. The article is attached for your review.
CGI Photography is the ability to produce photographic quality images
from CAD files.
The images produced are exact reproductions of the actual product.
Once the image is created it can be manipulated in an infinite number of ways:
Change the surface texture
Add movement, or animation
Change the viewing angle
Create exploded views
the ideas are endless.
Computer Generated Imaging extends the possibilities in product
photography.
Now therešs no need for actual product. Lead times are extended and
design changes are easy to accommodate. The result is more
consistency in images. It can save considerable time and money.
Prototypes are not necessary, and there's no need to wait for actual
product if images are needed for packaging, press releases or
catalogs.
What sets TRG apart from 3D modeling services, is one, the software
uses for the CGI projects is software primarily used in the film, and
animation industry. Second, is that it is operated by trained and
talented photographers.
TRG has been producing images for Cleveland area companies such as
Moen, Swagelok, Wiseco, Firestone and Rubbermaid. They have also targeted automotive
aftermarket companies outside the Northeast Ohio area, including Lund Industries, Westin, Gates
and Barry Grant.
