: a two-part forum on :
The Economics of Early Childhood Development
- The Case Center for Regional Economic Issues (REI)
- The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University
- Invest in Children
- Starting Point
The above organizations are initiating a two-part initiative to bring our region to the next level of action to address the needs of our young children. Underpinning this discussion is the understanding that regional economic development depends on quality care for our young children. In a global economy that runs on brainpower, workforce development begins with a pregnant mother. With this premise in mind, our initiative will bring together professionals in our region from five groups involved and interested in child development issues in various forms and at various levels.
The two forums will serve as a launching point for a regional action plan to enhance our children's development. The new approach we will develop depends on the content and direction of the discussion from these sessions.
February 14, 9AM-12PM, at the Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development. (Directions below.)
Whether or not you were able to attend Part I of the Forum on the Economics of Early Childhood Development, your participation in Part II will be a valuable contribution.
We encourage you to bring a snack (two items or fifty) to share with our community of participants. Bring two apples, bring some pretzels,Ébring a peach pie!
Prior to the Forum and afterwards, please check out the website we are developing at: http://www.neochildhood-org.bryght.net/. This website not only contains the transcript from Part I of the Forum, it also allows you to comment on ideas of other attendees and participants and provides links to background reading material on the economics of early childhood development.
