Topic: “The Budding Ohio Wind Industry: Where Do We Stand in the Nation?” A forum to wet your appetite about wind power component manufacturing opportunities.
- Valdis Krebs, Network analysis expert, will talk about on how the technology industry alliance organized between seeming competitors in 2001 to produce the Apple iPod in 8 months! (Link: www.orgnet.com) How will proactive companies who link together – i.e., as in a model similar to the Apple iPod alliance - expedite the involvement of Ohio manufactures in utility scale wind turbine generator manufacturing, which manufacturing is now primarily the domain of Europe, Japan, and India?
Network Building: How can open networking help advance NEO into this market? How can Ohio seize the opportunity? Can Ohio companies ally to capitalize on their existing skills and industry position as confirmed by the REPP Report? How will this network be managed?
The Research: Ohio has the wind energy component manufacturing resources to reverse the manufacturing job loss trend of the last 3 ½ years. What does the Renewable Energy Policy Project (REPP) study released in September 2004 say about this? (Link: www.repp.org) How do we look ahead at the wind industry to identify areas for NEO which are not included in this data? Is the industry potentially bigger or smaller than the REPP report suggests? The REPP report identifies Ohio (after California) as the state which has the existing manufacturing skill and equipment to capture the second largest dollar amount of manufacturing work derived from the budding US wind turbine industry.
Branding and Marketing: How can we expedite the wind industry onto the radar of public citizens, government, academia, entrepreneurs, innovators, and - onto the machine tools of - established factories?
