Topic: "Measuring and Managing Sustainability Performance at our NEO Campuses"
Regional leaders in sustainability will teach us about new "green" ideas and practices for our NEO university and college campuses. We'll learn what it takes to build Quality, Connected Places - fundamental to connecting competitive, innovative regions.
We'll be talking about campus upgrades from a variety of perspectives: a campus sustainabilty menu master plan, innovative curriculum design, high performance building technology & design and one institution's journey of stakeholder buy in and the nuts and bolts of changing people's behavoirs.
Join us to envision what a sustainable campus looks like, what kind of measurement tools are needed, indicators and benchmarks, goals to set and new ways for a campus to scale an assessment to fit its resources and circumstances.

Terry Schwartz, Senior Planner, Kent State Urban Design Collaborative. Terry works with Youngstown State University to create a template for a campus sustainability master plan, designed for flexibility depending on campus needs, resources, goals, etc. Terry will talk about the process of developing a template for campus sustainability.
Babara Kviz, Environmental Coordinator, Facilities Management Services, Carnegie Mellon University and Co-Director of Green Practices Committee. Barbara has been instrumental in the greening efforts at CMU. Visit Green Practices

August 9:“A Holistic Approach to Developing Cities and Regions,” Michael Easterling, graduate student, CSU College of Urban Affairs (http://urban.csuohio.edu/) and Executive Director, Open Roads Institute (http://www.open-roads.net/) will introduce the strategy of integrating ecology, economy and education. Join us to explore different scenarios for holistic, sustainable community development. Open Roads Institute (ORI) is home to IDEA (http://www.open-roads.net/idea%20home.htm) an online learning center for elementary school aged students. ORI's mission is to supplement school and home education with enrichment programs that teach through technology.

The Center for Regional Economic Issues (REI) at Case Western Reserve University hosts weekly forums called Tuesdays@REI. The public discussions are part of “Making Change,” a regional initiative supported by the SBC Foundation. Each week the Forums are hosted at the Weatherhead School of Management, Peter B. Lewis Building, from 4:00 P.M. to 5:45 P.M. providing a place for individuals and organizations to talk about new ideas, initiatives and strategies to build our Innovation Economy in Northeast Ohio.
