The Center for Regional Economic Issues (REI) at Case Western Reserve University hosts weekly forums called Tuesdays@REI. The public discussions are part of “Making Change,” a regional initiative supported by the SBC Foundation and coordinated by REI.
A Platform for Civic Engagement. Tuesdays@REI help to build a new level of civic engagement for our Innovation Economy in Northeast Ohio. The weekly discussions focus on the future of our regional economy and serve to connect people to a broader range of regional initiatives. In addition to being a gateway to civic entrepreneurs, these sessions also act as focus groups for REI.
Simple Rules & Updated Methods for Leadership. We follow simple rules for conversation built on trust and respect. And by engaging others through an Appreciative Approach to Leadership, the capabilities of our region - individual and shared strengths and passions – can be maximized.
The Innovation Roadmap. The Innovation Roadmap provides a clear and simple investment framework for building Northeast Ohio’s regional Innovation Economy in the areas of Dialogue & Inclusion, Brainpower, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Quality, Connected Places, and Branding & Marketing
Who Attends Tuesdays@REI? Led by Ed Morrison, Executive Director of REI, and Northeast Ohio business, civic and government champions, the weekly Tuesday discussions are inclusive of anyone who has initiative and is known for getting things done.
Our Portfolio of Economic Development Investments. By listening, thinking and talking together, Tuesdays@REI participants build new networks, participate in dynamic brainstorming conversations and access fresh partnership opportunities. Weekly topics focus on investment opportunities in core areas within our Innovation Roadmap. These are,

A Tool Set for Civic Volunteers.
- The Peter B. Lewis Building. Tuesdays@REI is hosted in the Peter B. Lewis Building in University Circle, the most “wired” community on the globe. The Peter B. Lewis Building has first-rate computing resources which are available to all Tuesday@REI guests:
- Switched gigabit Ethernet connections
- Pervasive wireless network access points
- Audio-visual facilities
- State-of-the-art teleconferencing
- Virtual Work Spaces. REI has assembled a dynamic ecology of tools that support assessment, communication, collaboration, and coordination activities. We share user-friendly wiki collaboration web sites and participation environments like blogs, accessible by a diverse bandwidth of users. Other Making Change tools can include social network analysis software and online surveys.
Transformative Initiatives. By connecting regional organizations, key leaders, and change agents investing in economic development, Tuesdays@REI remains a catalyst for building social networks; fundamental structures for exploring collaboration opportunities and designing transformative initiatives for our globally competitive and sustainable Innovation Economy in Northeast Ohio.
