Spurred in part by the NAE Conference scheduled for June 2, REI's New Energy Roundtable and TransTech have organized local energy fest to discuss sustainable mobility. A number of interesting endeavors are taking off in Ohio - including the design of a really efficient hybrid auto - and this is a chance to discuss some of them with people directly involved.
Speakers:
Codrin-Gruie Cantemir, Dr. of Eng., Chief Designer, Center for Automotive Research (CAR) at Ohio State University
Dr. John Cragel, Biofuels Research, Hiram College
Phil Lane, Chief Technology Officer, Midwest Biofuels LLC
An audience interactive panel discussion around the successful deployment of Alternative Fuels and Hybrid-Electric Vehicles here and abroad. Energy Independence, Environmental Remediation and Regional Economic Development are the central themes. Through a collaboration of Industry, Academia and Government our region can become a leader in beginning to achieve these goals immediately, not in the distant future. We will identify the fading barriers to adoption that have resulted in Ohio lagging behind economically and environmentally. Five counties in Northeastern Ohio have recently been declared in non-attainment of 8 hour ozone and particulate matter(2.5) standards by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Hybrids and biofuels are among a portfolio of solutions that offer immediate, effective mitigation strategies. We will discuss these and other exciting, transformational opportunities that in combination allow us to rethink the way in which we use resources to move people and products.
