Progressive IT Concerns; they may be moving their IT dept to Colorado
- How do we create a QUICK RESPONSE TEAM a JIT to know about these needs now and in the future?
- Is there something we could pilot or prototype at the county level to response to this
- Issue; Burn out on the part of service providers
- Education, Jobs, healthcare
ASSET ONE; could be the UNIVERISTY COLLABORATIVE ( brought together for the FUnd? for the Economic Future); Case, Cleveland State, Youngstown State, Akron, Lorain Community College, Tri-C, REI; Steve Minter of Cleveland State is heading this up
ASSET TWO; Tom Sudow of BEachwood? who has put together a collaborative of Chambers of Commerce
- Could use those two assets
ASSET THREE: Motivational Speaker Les Brown is going to come to Cleveland several times a year; two foci; 1) the population in poverty 2) those who are "on the edge" with employment
ASSET FOUR; Anthony Houston and the Empowerment Zone who is heading the Poverty Inititive

ASSET SIX: Clark Hayes of the Job Core Center; Mentorship for
ASSET SEVEN; The Ports Authority?

Things we need to pay attention to:
- Address the drop out problem
- What kinds of messages do we need to communicate?
- Become an e-government innovation system, save money and re-invest M & M of tax dollars
- Build robust networks; collaborative models; more networked driven
- Poverty is a frame of mind
- Starts with the individual and their responsibilities to themselves
- Why are we surprised about poverty?...we are #45 (as a state) in business developmnent, #46 in non-friendly tax codes; #48 entrepreneurial start ups
Things we need to do:
- Put together a list of big infrastructure projects
- Business leaders need to go to Columbus and lobby
- We are not planning enough...who is benefiting??
- Need to be growing a collaboration and plug into existing groups, i.e. Blue Ribbon Commission
- What role does the Port Authority play?
